The shift

Shoppers ask AI what to buy.

Shopify now puts eligible catalogs in front of ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and, for US stores, Google's AI Mode and Gemini. Being in the catalog makes you eligible. What gets you recommended is your product data and what reviews, roundups and Reddit say about you.

AI shelf space

The short list is the new shelf.

Ask an assistant for the best swim trunks under sixty dollars and it shows a handful of products. That list is the shelf. We measure how often each of your products makes it, how sure we are, and who takes the spot instead: competitors, Amazon or the retailers that stock you.

Illustrative example, not client data.

“Best swim trunks for a beach trip”

“Shorts like [competitor], but cheaper”

Shopify Odds Baseline

Seven deliverables, one readout

$4,500, fixed. 10 business days from receiving your data. Up to 3 collections and 20 hero products. Credited in full if you continue.

01

Shopping Questions

8–12 clusters of real shopping prompts ("best X for Y", "X vs Y", "gift for…"), mined from your reviews, support tickets, site search and returns.

02

Shelf Sheet

How often each assistant recommends your brand and each hero product, with error bars, plus the products that take the shelf instead.

03

Source Map

The 10–20 roundups, review sites, Reddit threads, videos and marketplaces behind each cluster, and the roundups you are missing from.

04

Catalog & Feed Check

Agentic Storefront settings, Merchant Center feed health, product markup, product IDs, and whether prices and stock are readable without a browser.

05

Accuracy & Leakage Check

What AI gets wrong about your products (price, sizing, materials, stock), and how often it sends shoppers to Amazon or other retailers.

06

AI Revenue Baseline

What AI already drives today, from Shopify's AI-channel orders, GA4 and your post-purchase survey, labelled as a floor.

07

90-day plan and readout

Prioritized fixes written as ready-to-ship tickets, an offsite plan, a 60-minute readout and a one-slide summary.

Timeline

Day by day

  1. Day 0 45-minute kickoff; store and analytics access; DPA signed
  2. Days 1–2 Mining your reviews, tickets, site search and returns; you review the shopping clusters (30 minutes)
  3. Days 3–6 Sampling across 7 assistants, 10–20 runs per prompt, recording the products, prices and links shown
  4. Days 7–8 Catalog & Feed, Accuracy & Leakage and AI Revenue checks
  5. Day 9 Report and 90-day plan drafted, edited and checked
  6. Day 10 60-minute readout and a retainer proposal (only if the numbers justify one)

What you provide

  • Staff access to Shopify (products and reports), plus GA4, Search Console and Google Merchant Center
  • Exports of your reviews, 3 months of support tickets, site-search terms and returns reasons
  • Your hero products and collections (up to 3 collections and 20 products)
  • A list of competitors, including the retailers that stock you

Read-only access. We sign a DPA before anything changes hands, redact personal data before any analysis, and delete raw uploads after 30 days. No changes to your store during the baseline.

Plans

Published prices. No annual lock-in.

Start with the baseline. If the numbers say it's worth it, pick a plan: $4,500/month if your developer ships the fixes, or $9,500/month if we ship them. 90 days, then month-to-month.

The Clean AEO Standard

Clean work, with commerce rules on top

  1. 01

    Real reviews only

No fake, bought or gated reviews. Incentivized reviews are disclosed. The FTC's 2024 rule on consumer reviews and testimonials bans fake and bought reviews outright.

  2. 02

    Disclosed placements

No undisclosed paid placements in "best of" roundups. Affiliate and gifting relationships are disclosed wherever the placement appears.

  3. 03

    The feed matches the page

Product feeds and markup always match what shoppers see: the same price, stock and claims. No hidden text or prompts aimed at AI shopping agents.

  4. 04

    No fake shoppers

No sock-puppet Reddit, forum or community posts. A brand's team takes part openly, as itself.

FAQ

Questions Shopify brands ask

Isn't Shopify's Agentic Storefronts enough?

It's a good start, and it's on by default for eligible stores. It makes your products available in ChatGPT and Microsoft Copilot and, for US stores using Google's sales channel, in Google AI Mode and Gemini. It doesn't decide which products get recommended. That comes down to your product data and what reviews, roundups and Reddit say about you. The baseline checks your setup, then measures what actually gets recommended.

Will you touch our theme?

Only on Storefront, and only on a duplicate theme you approve before anything is published. We never touch checkout, payments or app billing. On Shelf, we write exact tickets and your developer or agency ships them.

What about Amazon?

We measure how often assistants send shoppers to Amazon or other retailers instead of your store, and fix what's in our control: your product data, your site and the sources assistants cite. We don't manage Amazon listings. Amazon's own assistant, Rufus, can't be measured through official APIs, so we don't report on it.

How do you measure revenue?

Three ways: Shopify's AI-channel orders, an AI channel in GA4, and an "AI assistant" answer in your post-purchase survey. Analytics undercounts AI, so we always report the result as a floor, not a total.

We have a small catalog. Is this worth it?

The baseline covers up to 3 collections and 20 hero products, which is most of the catalog for many growing brands. It's a one-time $4,500, credited in full if you continue.

What do you need from us?

Staff access to Shopify, GA4, Search Console and Google Merchant Center, plus exports of your reviews, three months of support tickets, site-search terms and returns reasons. We sign a DPA first and redact personal data before any analysis.

Can you guarantee we'll show up in ChatGPT?

No one honestly can. Assistants rarely return the same products twice, so we commit to a process and to measured change against control clusters, reported with error bars.

Do you work with stores that aren't on Shopify?

Not yet. The store and feed work is built around Shopify. If you're on another platform, tell us and we'll say honestly whether a baseline would help.
